Blade width 1" with an overall length of the knife at 11 3/4". The guard looks a little oversized, but the downward curve of the guard fits my hand well with 1/8"+ space between my knuckle and the guard.

You want the handle to fit your hand, not look proportioned. A nicely proportioned handle is not always a nice fitting handle. As someone with arthritis I find most of the handles on knives I make look to large to many people. Untill they hold them, and then they say how nice it feels! :idunno: :idunno:

Absolutely agree. Same goes for pistol grips, etc. I've gotten cramps from poorly fitted grips.
