This had started out to be a JP Beck rifle, now it’s simply an early Lancaster. I had purchased a stock, buttplate, trigger guard and toe plate from fellow member of this forum. The barrel channel was already cut for a 7/8 barrel, the ramrod hole was also drilled. When I took this to my builder ( Lee Wise from New Paris Ohio) he started right away, I told him I wanted a not so fancy JP Beck. Anyhow as he progressed on the build he seen a few not so JP Beck features, such as the drop at the toe was a little much for a Beck, the buttplate was a little to curved for a wood patch box, and the over all width of the rear stock was so that a Brass patchbox like Beck would have used could not be used. At first I was bummed, but then he called me and told me that it was finished and now it’s just a simple Lancaster... but I’m happy with it! I can’t wait to shoot it, planning on that Tuesday. Anyhow, it has a Jim chambers deluxe siler lock, colrain 42 inch Round bottom streight barrel, trigger was made by Lee, lock was polished by him as well. It is a quick, smooth Lock and trigger. All in all it’s a right handsome rifle, weighing in at 8-1/2 lbs. I’m not a great photographer and my pics do not do this rifle justice, but I thought I’d share anyhow.
