Tell us more about your wife's family. My family was in the Lehigh Valley for a good while, back in that same time period.

Aside from that, keep your eyes 👀 peeled for scammers or spammers. There are posts and thread giving information on how to deal with them. By deal I mean, deal them out of the Forum.
