Hello folks. I just became a member to try to find out a little about a Brown Bess I received. I want to fetch a turkey this season with it and will need a little guidance or tips. I have shot a couple black powder guns before but only percussion or inline. I have taken a few gogglers with a shotgun already but this should provide quite the challenge.

Anyway, thanks in advance for the welcome and advice.

MC.

Hey MC,
Welcom to the forum
Ive been a Bess shooter for years and the best I can offer is shoot it at a pattern board trying different loads.Start with about 80 grains 2F a card or wad over the powder equal or a bit more of shot and a card to hold it in.Theres lots of combo's till you get one you like But thats what this forum is for.Look under smoothbores and I'm sure you'll find all kinds of things about Bess....Mark

Welcome to the Forum MC! :hatsoff:
You came to the right place. I'm sure there's more info on a Bess here than you ever thought to ask about. Like spudnut said, check the smoothbore forum. Try a search for Bess too. Then hang around and shoot the bull.
