Well, after getting your advice about my shot-snake, I went ahead and ordered a Hawksley-Sheffield powder flask from Track of the Wolf. It's half a C-note I'll never see again, but looks to be a quality piece. (I use a standard horn and bone measure for my flinter, but this seems more appropriate to the cap-lock scattergun.) Supposed to be "flame-proof". What do y'all think? Thanks for answering all my questions, by the way. Sure do appreciate it!

So'd ya get the deer, ducks or floral? I'm guessin ducks.

Purty. Looks like a nice flask. Now you need a nice red three-strand sash cord with tassled ends to hang it around your shoulder.

Yes- it is supposd to be flame proof - look at it after you get it and you might want to dump it's charge into a separate measure before dumping that into the muzzle. I would - maybe - maybe not. Taking your time in loading should allow any 'embers' to burn out and allow loading directly fom the flast- some do, some don't. Some clubs won't allow loading directly from a flask.
I do like the dram charger on the Hawksley flasks, though. They are a step up from the rest. I have a Dixon(replica) that requires a new 'measure'. I see I can't buy just the measure, but have to buy the entire 'head'- That will be $50.00 CDN landed here.
