Well I finally caved in and bought myself an 1858 Remington. It is the target model by Navy Arms. I also got a Calvary flap holster for it. Got them from Dixie. Both arrived here in three days! Can't wait to get out and shoot it!

it probably passed by my house ,on it`s way to Ohio you should have had ,ups-drop it off here and i could have tested it for you . oh well mabey next time , good looking rem.

Piettas usually say Pietta somewhere on them. Their mark is a diamond with *** inside. Ubertis are often marked on the bottom flat of the barrel. The Uberti mark is an octagon-like a gun barrel head on--with a U in the center.

No it's not stupid. A lot of people mistake importers for manufacturers. My understanding is Navy has imported from different ones over the years. I'm not sure but think the revolvers they're importing now are Uberti's but I could be wrong. I know at one time they were Pietta's.

Hey David that looks really nice.
Now you need a couple of spare cylinders and pouches.

Nice one. adjustable sites should sock them slugs in thar' nicely. seems like the Rems are just a little better shootin' irons.

Thanks!! Pietta is the manufacturer of this one. I blame Rebel and O.S.O.K. for my desire to have one.

Lookin' good, now ya just need to get out a throw some lead down range. No David, not by hand, fire it out of the gun. College kids, sheeeesh. :rotf: :rotf:

I am going to order a mold for them soon. I liked hearing Rod's results with his so I am most definatly going to try them.

Thanks Rod. Your ever present wisdom has saved me some grief yet again. We have not gotten that far in school yet!! :rotf:

That's the exact combo that I have! The holster is actually made for the Colt dragoons. They didn't list on for the 58 so I just tried the ones I had already for fit and the dragoon's was it.

It's nice to have those adjustable sights- at least one of my cap and balls shoots to point of aim! :surrender:

Enjoy! and post some range day pics for us too :)
