Nice,
Who made it for you?
What are the drop at comb and heel on that one?

Nice rifle. Is that a wear plate (not sure what you call it) on the forearm? Seem to remember seeing something similiar on some plains rifles, supposedly to help protect that part of the rifle from saddle wear.

Its origins were to cover run out, or brake out on the ram rod hole. Weather decorative or functional, I think it adds a nice touch. :v

Very, very nice!! ...and frankly my 54 yearold eyes don't see anything out the usual with those sights. :hmm: Seems to be in the proper place ...

Made by Mike Lange of Indiana. 3.75" drop and fits me perfect. I can shoulder with eyes closed, get comfortable, and when I open my eyes the sights are in exact alignment.

Quite a looker you have there, Old. Look out tree rates, bunnies, turkeys and such! Maybe even a deer if your state allows that caliber. My state says .45 or bigger for deer. That's a great caliber for punchin' paper, too - I've heard it called the .308 of muzzleloading!

In Michigan it is legal: direct quote from the game regs:
"In the rifle zone, deer may be taken with handguns, rifles, bows and arrows, shotguns and muzzleloading firearms including black powder handguns. It is legal to hunt deer in the rifle zone with any caliber of firearm except a .22 caliber or smaller rimfire (rifle or handgun)."

That said, I would use my 50 or 54 if deer hunting.
