How well does she spark? I think I have the same lock on mine, and it is kind of hard on flints.

Nice job. You have a knack for building.

I spark tested the battery, It sparks well but the main spring is not strong enough, Im going to have to re do that part but I think it looks good, This is my 3rd build!

Thankyou!

The caliber is 62, or 20 bore

The stock wood is an old walnut timber my great grandfather found in a barn.

The barrel is the 42inch colerain griffin fowler barrel

The lock came as castings from the rifleshoppe which I assembled in about 20 hours

all furnature made by me.

I made the ramrod from split oak.

I made the buttplate nails

The stock finish is a few coats of tung oil.

I left some file marks to make it more authentic

The butt stock has a 1/4" cast off

I cut and drilled the ramrod channel

I cut the barrel channel.

And there you go, the final product.

Odd Fellow:

Thanks for the info! You did a wonderful job!

I second BillinOregon's assessment. To have that kind of skill at your age means you have a great natural talent!

Just got the mainspring done after 4 tries I have success!

It sparks like a dream!

I found some 7/8" long by 5/8" wide flints at friendship so I can use bevel down.

The flint hits 2/3 up the battery and at a 60 degree angle and is incredibly easy on the flints! Ive set it off over 20 times and without a hitch it has sparked lovely without hardly any chipping of the flint and it is as sharp as it was when I put it on!

I'd like to hear more about how you made the new mainspring. I had the same problem with the lock that I put together for mine. I'm not happy with the strength of the cast main spring.

I ended up not having to make a new mainspring. I anealed the spring and hammered a bend in it to get the force adjusted.

fantastic work, young man! Youngsters such as you show there's a future for our way of life! Thank you!
