Well, she's here! I just picked up my new Tennessee flinter from the builder, John Anderson in Tullahoma, TN. We went to his range to check everything out and file the front sight for elevation. I'm still learning her personality but I think we're gonna get along just fine.

Specs:
.45 cal Colrain barrel, radius grooved rifling, 1:56 twist
Siler lock
John Anderson design triggers, guard and sights
Iron furniture
Pewter nose cap

Initial outing she was grouping .451 PRB's with 70g fffg and .025 ticking about 1.25" at 50yds

Yea, I'm excited!

Now that I've figured out how to post photos, I couldn't help myself... here's a few more:

Where did you get the .451 round ball and the .025 ticking. I'm getting a Colereain .45 caliber 1/60 twist made and just curious.

Thanks dogman!

Wolf Eyes, the gunsmith supplied everything for today's shoot. He mentioned that the balls were from a Lyman mold. He sent me home with a short supply of each so I'm shopping for them now too.

A beaut, although I've never seen double set triggers like that before.

Thanks wy0mn.

The builder told me that he designed and cut the original and has them custom cast. Same with the sights and trigger guard.

Thanks! I'm just not sure I can last until the weekend so I can play with it!

Oh well, gotta start shopping for flint, powder and patch.

Thanks! It's like nothing I've ever had before! I've spent most of the day shopping for supplies. Still looking for the best option on flints. Suggestions are appreciated!

First day on the range....

Last three-shot group was 1.2" at 50yds (two of those shared a hole)
90g FFFg; .447dia/136g rb; .015 patch, soap lube; FFFg prime
Ave. Vel. 2076fps

Not a misfire all day!

My only regret is that I waited 40+ years to get one of these things!

That's outstanding. Afraid it ain't gonna go so quick for me, although I did have a pretty good outing this morning.

These things are fun, huh?

:hatsoff:

Very nice  my next rifle will be a Tennessee. Need a small game rifle. Tried the .54 on tree rats last year, thinking a .36 this time.

Well, if you are shopping for a builder, I can highly recommend John Anderson. He's an old school, one at a time gunsmith and willing to work with you to get you the gun you want. His prices are excellent and the lead time reasonable (4 +/- weeks) It would have probably taken him less time except I had a habit of hanging around "helping"!
