New (To Me) .50 Isaac Haines Rifle

Well folks,
I will gladly eat some crow with this as I have bashed flint rifles much over my entire 25ish years with muzzleloaders, over the even ever so slight delay in ignition, and pan flash, causing my shots to miss. Now firstly I must say that I have a slight flinch to begin with, and it seems to have begun since I have not been able to shoot as much as I did in my much younger years, and a flinter did not help this! However recently I came across a fellow selling his 1770 era Isaac Haines Lancaster flintlock which was built roughly 7 years ago using quality parts. This rifle’s Chambers Custom Siler lock is FAST, and I am impressed!! I am so pleased with this rifle that I will be shooting it exclusively at an event this weekend. Good, well tuned locks are the key for sure.
Anyhow, just wanted to pass along my joy. Here are a few pictures.

I’d love to have that! Although,to me, it looks like a Jacob Dickert with the patchbox sand general shape. I’m not the most educated on the styles, someone may correct me.
I will say this as well, inletting that patchbox is TRICKY! Looks good on all levels..

You have a quality lock, and as your flint-specific skills increase, you'll find that you aren't giving up anything to them cap shooters.

That's a really good looking rifle. Although I own three percussion rifles, I find them kinda "boring" compared to flintlocks.

Now that's a beauty. Are you shooting it at the SPFGA shoot this WE? If it shoots as good as it looks you will be sure to get first pick from the blanket. Good shooting.

I like that rifle. My current rifles have a good bit more curl and figure in the wood but I find that plainer grade of maple very interesting. I'm thinking about my next build and maybe I'll use the grade A stock. Lets see here off the top of my head....
Continue browning until it's really dark like yours. Cut moldings in the stock. Pour a pewter nosecap.
I think the bright brass really sets off the rifle. But I also like iron (steel) mounted longrifles. Decisions......
Stain the wood more walnut brown than the maple shades.
I might like it.

Thanks. As a matter of fact I am shooting there this weekend. And for the record, she shoots better than she looks, I just can’t do it justice as I am just learning the quirks of the flinters.

My cousin has a Jim Chambers built .54 cal. Isaac Haines Lancaster flintlock rifle that he loves to hunts with. Weekend before last he attended his son's wedding in North Carolina. Where is was staying was only 6 miles from Jim Chamber's facility so he met the man who built his gun and got a tour of the facility. Boy, was he pumped about that!
