Alright my first BP rifle e in today bought from a fellow forum member. Lyman great plain rifle .54. I got 10# of ffg goex and waiting on caps to be delivered Friday and I should be good to go on working up a accurate load for hunting. I may replace the rear fixed sight for a adjustable sight in the rear. But I'm excited to get all set up

Nice what kind of accuracy are you getting and how far can you effectively shoot at?

The factory GPR adjustable rear sight has a well earned reputation for moving about and impacting accuracy. I would see what the current fixed rear sight is capable of before considering any changes. Once broken in, I have found GPRs capable of a ragged hole at 50 yards, with 2” to 3” groups easily attained at 100 yards, and with some work, even tighter.
