I’m working my booth at an Arms Collectors show this weekend. Something caught my eye on Friday during set-up. It appeared to be a beat-up Navy Arms Buffalo Hunter. Funny thing was, there are no such markings nor any for Zoli. What I found was William Large’s Hallmark. My guess is it was either made or refreshed by him. He didn’t make the prototype, did he?
I read in John Baird’s book that old Bill had a sense of humor. This gun is marked “Reb Remover”!
I’ll post more photos when I get a chance to taker her apart, inspect and clean her up. All I can say is it looks like a well-used 58 caliber, hunting rifle. While the bore is a bit dark, I didn’t see any pitting. There is plenty of rifling left!
Thanks!
Walt
