New to muzzle loading cannons. Seeking advice from experienced cannoneers.

Greeting. My name is Justin. I'm an amateur historian, getting back into muzzle loading firearms, and former Marine. I'm interested in building a functional replica cannon and have been looking at the 1/2 scale 6 pounder from Hern ironworks. I'd like to build some knowledge on the subject, prior to spending money. Had a lengthy phone conversation with Jack Hern, who was knowledgeable and very approachable. Does anyone know how to source parts for constructing a reproduction civil war gun carriage in 1/2 scale? I'm not 100% set on this particular model. But it looks like a nice way to get started. Thank you for reaching out. Regards. Justin

There are plans for carriages out there and you could build one if you had the equipment with the possible exception of the wheels though it's a lot of work. A full scale Civil War field carriage can run $10,000 and that's just the carriage. A Navel carriage would be much easier to build yourself.
