Hi Folks..I am new to this forum and new to muzzleloading and I have a few questions. I bought a 50 cal Hawkins for my 13yo son so we could extend our hunting time here in Maine. He flipped out over it and now can't shoot enough. Since last hunting season we bought a kit from DGW and had a ball building it. Both of these guns are by Investarms and seem of good quality, the wood in the kit was excellent. Are there any bp shotgun kits out there in 20ga? I have not had a lot of luck searching the internet. I would also like to build another rifle and would appreciate any opinions on what kits are quality and what to stay away from. Thanks in advance for any helpful info. Al

Check Dixie Arms at www.dixiegunworks.com I know they had a 12 and 10 gauge kit by Pedersoli. I don't think I've ever seen a 20 gauge BP shotgun kit. I know TC offers a replacement barrel for the Encore in 20 gauge BP.

I suspect the reason most are in 10 & 12 gauge is avaiablity of shot wads, cups, etc.

If you are wanting to build another rifle you may be ready to try a flintlock. They are a little more chalangeing to shoot and build about the same as a caper. Just another style of gun that is a ball of fun to shoot.
