Hello, just received my Walker Colt. Was told it was a Uberti but no where does it say Uberti. HAs a 2003 barrel code. How do you identify a Ubertu made cap and ball revolver? I figure they all would say the manufactures nameAll the barrel says is "SMBLACK POWDER ONLY CAL. 44 MADE IN ITALY " with teh serial number under it. Of course it has the prrof markes on the bottom of the barrel assembly near the frame and more proofs on the bottom of the frame. Thanks, Craig

Uberti marks all of there guns with their logo.

This is a octagon barrel with a circular rifled bore in the center of it with a capital U in the middle of if.

Where are the most common areas for these markings? All I found were proofs on the bottow of the frame and barrel along with the date code and what I posted is on the right side of the barrel. Thanks, Craig

Sounds like ya got an A.S.M. Walker. Good gun, but if you ever wanna convert it, you cant. It's a good shooter though.

Not ever having a ASM I was not sure but thats what I was thinking. I bought it as a Uberti so have asked the seller for a full refund since it is not what was advertised. He was good to deal with so I doubt it will be a problem. thanks again, Craig

I had one, and like yourself, I looked for the mark to be sure. What you decribed is what I had on mine. It's still a good pistol. But Uberti's supposed to be better quality. So it's up to you.

Craig, just to confirm what Zonie and Jimmy said. Reads like you have a San Marco/Armi San Marco.

Have bought various models of these new in the box years ago. The barrels are usually marked underneath with "SM ..." or "ASM ...".

Hopefully your seller will continue to be good to work with. If you got a satisfactory price you can live with you might consider keeping the gun.

In general, not as high a quality as Uberti, but lots of folks, use and like them.

I have both ASM and Uberti Walkers. The ASM is a fine gun. It's finish is not as good as the Uberti. Fit and function are equivalent. If it were me I'd ask for 25% off and settle for 15% rather than return for a full refund. The ASM is still a nice gun to have, and with two Walkers you won't be walking around in a circle from being unbalanced. :rotf:
