Got this one Friday in Grayson county Va. A friend and I were walking on oppisite sides of a ridge with some laurel thickets. Most of the deer we have hunted this way in the past try to double back behind us rather than running straight away. We walk a few feet and stop for a couple of minutes. This one came out of a thicket with a doe at about 35 yards and me at 235 pounds was hiding behind an 8 inch tree  He did a slow hop over a fence and on his way down I dropped the hammer on my .50 caliber flintlock piling him up on the spot. 70 grains FFF .490 roundball. I left my camera in the truck so I didn't get any photos in the woods. It was a really sloppy day so we didn't go in primative dress.
