I have a TC Hunter FX .50.

I have very little time for shooting. I shot it for the first time and zeroed it two years ago.

This year, I plan to hunt the muzzleloader season with my son. We went to the range today, me with a box of Barnes Expander MZs, Blackhorn 209 loaders, and the 295 HP Powerbelts I had from the first shooing session.

To my chagrin, the sabots would not load. They got stuck horribly and had to be pushed out from the breech.

Luckily, the Powerbelts loaded very easily and shot well enough (under 3" at 100Y). So, why use anything else, I ask?

The Blackhorn ballistics say 100gr (volume) will push a 295gr Powerbelt at ~1700 FPS. Is this a range where the bullet performs well? It shoots flat enough for woods hunting.

This forum doesn't usually deal with the new fangled "muzzle loaders" made of stainless steel and various shades of plastic.

That said, the load you mention compares favorably with those used in a recent population control cow elk hunt where I had to conduct marksmanship tests for the hunters lucky enough to draw the special licenses.

One other question - what portable chargers are you guys using on late-model Ubercorp plasma rifles?

I'm just kidding. I'll be good now.

(I'm going to buy a flintlock pistol for fun so I'll stick around.)
