Need a word or two of wisdom here folks. My wife just bought me a Crockett .32cal :) Nothing I have will fit the nipple :(
What wrench should I get, and do you think a hot shot type nipple would be a good idea? Also, my #11 caps are a tad loose..squeeze em & live with it, or go buy some #10's?
Thanks for any info. I think I'm gonna really like this little rifle ::

I have a Crockett .32 and enjoy it very much. The nipple wrench I use on all of my caplock rifles is the NW120 from Track of the Wolf. I also use Spitfire Magnum nipples in them all. I've never used the Hotshot nipples, so I cannot comment on them. The #11 caps work well for me on the Spitfires.

One thing I like to do is put a little grease on the nipple threads before installing. Seems to make them easier to remove after a shooting session or hunt.

I don't remember how I removed the original nipple. Probably with pliers or something. :results: :redthumb:

Thanks Stumpkiller. Yep, I have the owners booklet, just don't know what style/size wrench to get . The book is nice enough to tell me to never be without a wrench...just not nice enough to tell me which one. :: If I can get over to Southern Pines to a gun shop I reckon I can find one. :yakyak:

Flatlander..Thank ya kindly. Maybe I'll try the pliers thing & go ahead & change the nipple. None of my wrenches even come close to fitting the nipple that came on the rifle :boohoo: I need to do something...I really want to shoot this thing! ::

Thanks again

You might be able to find a set of stamped steel open end wrenches made for working on distributor points at a flea market. :peace:

I would try and make a nipple wrench from bar stock before I'd risk marring the barrel if the pliers slipped...

I had a T style nipple wrench that looks like a revolver nipple wrench, only is larger that worked on crockett nipples. Have no idea where i got it or who made it though. But there is one that fits. Good luck.

I had the very same trouble with my Crockett 32. I looked all over but none I could find would fit down over the nipple. I was going to try to grind one down to make the walls thinner so it would fit but decided to call Traditions first. They had one that would fit and sent it at no charge. I don't know why if they know of this trouble that they don't include a wrench that fits with the rifle??? I also use #10 caps with the stock nipple and they stay on and work well. Other than the wrench problem the gun is much fun and shoots well.

Route4..Thanks, reckon I shoulda just called them first. Think I'll do that today (I like free ::)
