I am considering making the trip to Phoenix for the shoot in Febuary and was wondering about accomodations in the area.

1. Is there RV camping at the range? (It seems
that I heard there was, but the local
officials were a challenge and most do not
camp there.)
2. Is there RV camping close by?
3. Any recommendations on motels close by?
I prefer a motel with exterior doors so you
can back your truck up and unload with going
through the lobby as most of the newer motels
are designed now.

Thanks for the help.

2. Is there RV camping close by?
There is a KOA type place south of the range on I-17 & Deer Valley road I beleive, about 10-15 minutes away. There is also an RV place at Pioneer Village which would be nicer, I don't think it's associtated with the museum itself but they could probably get you the info Pioneer Village

3. Any recommendations on motels close by?

are designed now. There are a bunch on the north side of Phx along I-17 that would fir the bill and there is a newer one in Anthem that would also be close and probably a little quiter if that's what you are looking for.

I actually live in the area, let me know if I can be of further help.

Call Ben Avery Shooting Rangeas they ave a RV Park on site.

Wondfer why the NMLRA did not he this info on their site. ANSWER; Because they do not CARE... :bull: :bull: :bull: :bull: :bull: :bull:

We already have several "I hate the NMLRA" discussions going. This is getting really old and is not relevant to this question.

Desert Rat,

Thank you very much for the information, it is greatly appreciated.

My wife and I are looking forward to a road trip and seeing your state.

Again sir, thank you.

Pardon me Claude my point was the guy asks:

So my point was the guy should have NEVER had to ask the Question. The NMLRA has been doing a Western/Winter Shoot at Ben Avery for over 10 years. Wonder why they have not bothered to put the effort in their on web-site with camping information, and motel information for those who are coming to PHX for the first Time.

All they have is
http://www.nmlra.org/shootsDetails.asp?cat=NMLRA Sponsored&ID=140

This web site does not even list that Camping be it in a Tent or RV is available at Ben Avery Shooting Facility. There is not even a link for the Ben Avery Range for people to call and book a camp site, or RV space.

IMHO the NMLRA has an obligation to it members to have this information on the web-site. But per the norm no effort seems to be put into this event.

Richard,

You are most welcome. Please come and give us a visit. The weather should be great, espcially if you are coing from some snow bound country. We have had a few rainy years during that time but usually it's really nice.

If I can be of anymore assistance please feel free to ask.

Hello Richard, there will be a contingency of us Texans going again this year. We ar going to stay in Black Canyon City again which is about 20 minutes or so north and there is also an RV park there very close to the motel we stay at. The motel you described is like the one we stay at where you can back up to it but I think it may already be booked up.

Hope to visit with you and the folks I didn't get a chance to meet last year. Especially that wily rascal, TAN!

But, he did ask.

I was addressing your editorial comment...

Turning question about the NMLRA into a political diatribe (the club should be doing "X") is not productive. Sometimes people just want information without all the baggage that individuals may be carrying. That was my point.
