Is anyone going to the Southeastern?? Would love to meet up with a members of this site for a hello? and maybe hell :bull: :haha: :blah: I will be there on the 1st. to set up early. Hope to have some type of banner or flag for TMA and Muzzleloading Forum. :peace: :peace:

And if that does not pique your interest in meeting others...like me :results: :what:then have a good time anyway.
:results: :redthumb:

Hey Tipis- I posted an earlier note to thank you for the Rondy info. My buddy and I are takin' the young uns with us on a black powder turkey hunt about 15 - 20 miles from the rendevous and DEFINITELY plan on visiting the event the 1st or 2nd. Hope to run into you (my 11 yr old daughter wants to see a "real" tipi)! :haha:

I will not have my tipi there, but there will be plenty of others. :what:

Well, I made it too the Southeastern on Friday....afternoon, durring a torrential rain storm that covered 4 states and for 24 hours. :curse: After 40 or more miles out of my way...thier maps are wrong on the internet :curse: ::for which no one tried to correct since they have been up for months. Should have known better and looked at a real map. :no:I then proceeded to the site. Well, talk about unprepared and few sighns to get you to camp :what:Yes, there was one at a cross roads, one at the turn...but would you believe they didn't have any when you got to the actural camp turn off :what:You ended up in someones drive way. After circumnavigating the very wet, slippery, slick, white clay sany roads...in 4 wheel drive...and with the help of neighbor who lived there...I made it. :shocking:

This was white knuckle time trying not to loose my trailer on the slippry dirt road. You know how Ford Exporer are suppose to be top heavy and roll over....this one almost did. :nono: :nono:Not wanting to be a road block...I finally made it to the check in gate. Not it is still pouring buckets of water and I get out of the nice dry car...3rd mistake of the day. :bull:

The lady told me this little storm would go away in a couple of hours. Boy...do rendevouzers know how to spin the truth. Hey, I had just been on the weather site with my computer..I knew better. Too bad I didn't have the new fangle GPS in it. :results: Next trip...we will be really computerized....maybe. Wait till you read the rest of this.

Well, I drove in anyway...as much in 4 wheel drive as you can and trying not to mess up the "roads" as possible.
When the car sinks into the groud when you stop...you know you have made camp. :results: Talked to some nice people from Tennessee, boy, were there some people from Tennessee and Kentucky all over the place. The traders had been there for a few days so they were set WAY up before the rain storms hit. Saw some other old friends and Calico Traders..all wearing their primitive snorkle gear and "Ductch" waders.

To make this longer story longer...it was 4 in the afternoon and decided, since Jacksonville was only 2 or so hours back...I would leave...and come back on Sunday or Monday and set up in DRY weather. Now don't call me a fair weather camper...but even Noahs' Ark would have thought twice about setting sail in this. The high tide was in. :sorry: :youcrazy:

Anyway...I pulled out as best I could, met two guys who were trying to figure out if the road was safe to take their vehicle through...there was a stream crossing the road at this point....and they were not tooooooo sure how deep it was... :: ::well, leave it to the lady with the 4 wheel drive...I plowed through up to my doors and kept on going. Now whether they made it is a story I didn't say to see. The road was now crossed by severy wash outs and I was just praying to make it to a real road. Now what are those in the back parts of Fla/Geo.

OK...I made it home...well, sorta. :(My plans of going back in my own car and camp are now Down the Drain and sitting in my drive You know that "check engine" light that comes on and all haties breaks loose..... :shocking:it did with my car. It will be in the shop for a few days getting worked on.

So...there went my wonderfull camping trip to the Southeastern. Will be going out Sunday with some friends as day trippers :curse:. Not quite the same...but I am there? :what:

I'm going. Look for a sign that says "ELLERBE KNIVES" on a circular rawhide frame. See you there. Won't get there till Wed. though.

If I get my car out of the shop...I will be coming in Tuesday.
Also...for anyone going to the event, comming from the east or the west on I 10..it is exit 241...NOT 141 to turn north on..to north 221. And there is a Zig zag on us 90 before you go north again.

And the site is before the parking lot....if you go on past the parking lot...you missed it. :peace:

Hope to see some there.
:RO:

Went back out to the event Sunday with two friends...my truck is in the shop now, and it was a great day.. :shocking:  :results: The sun was out the the road in was starting to dry out. For those who are coming in this week...you are going to have a great time.

Looks like I am stuck here until they figure out what us wrong with the Ford...and don't say it because it is a FORD :m2c:

I went by the Southeastern yesterday. I only stayed for a few hours,as I don't have the gear to stay for a week.I liked what I saw ( my first Vou). Maybe one day I will get to go for the whole thing.

My buddy and I were turkey hunting in the area Thurs. and Fri. with his 10 yr old son and my 11 year old daughter. Took them to the 'Vous Saturday, a BEAUTIFUL day for their first Rondy! Of course it had rained a lot during our hunting/camping trip (wasn't sure we'd make back out from the huntin' camp to the hardroad in the 2WD Nissan Frontier, but it pulled thru!). I think my daughter's hooked on the buckskinning/rendevous thing :D She bought a pioneer girl skirt and a rabbit skin possibles bag, now she wants a tomahawk :shocking:. Dixie Plantation was a beautiful place to spend a day. I bought a horn from the "Hornsmith" and a beaverflap shooting bag by Gray Beard. Am looking forward to attending more Rondys...
