can a pistol/rifle be loaded and fired without a RB in the barrel? I'm just learning go easy on me. Thanks,Mike

Reenactors do it all the time. They use a 'wad' instead of a bullet. Or sometimes when they are recovering from the night before, a ramrod. :rotf: :rotf: :rotf: :shocked2:

Dan is spot-on with the warning! Please remember to NEVER point any gun at something that you don't wish to destroy! You'll stay out of trouble that way!

Hot gasses can reach-out several FEET from the muzzle!

Yes, if you just want to do this for fun/practice use a small square of newspaper and dampen it slightly in your mouth and then wad it up and ram it down on top of the powder. That gives enough compression to get a nice bang. As others have mentioned, make sure it is pointed in a safe/clear direction.

I watched a video yesterday of a guy shooting a ML pistol. He used no patch, and just dropped the ball down the barrel. :shocked2:
