I just aquired a box of 460 grn no excuse conicals in 50 cal for a thompson renegade. I am wondering If anyone has any suggestions as to powder type and volume. Any suggestions much appreciated.

My experience with the No Excuses Conicals has been in inline rifles so far. My experience with the Renegades reminds me of the recoil and the way the stock can smack you in the cheek when you load heavy.

In the inlines I shoot them with 80-85 grains of Goex 3f, Pyrodex P or Triple Se7en. The recoil is not too bad. The accuracy is excellent. I remember many years ago when I was talked into shooting a Buffalo Bullet 426 grain Conical with 110 grains of Pyrodex and it about kicked the snot out of me. I would not want to do the same thing with a 460 grain conical.

Start them low in the 80 grain range and I think you might have some real good results. Keep us posted on how they shoot. I only shoot them out of the modern muzzleloaders. I have never tried them in the traditional rifles with 1:48 twist. It should be interesting.
