I have been looking at CHEAP pistols such as the CVA KY pistol and the Traditions KY pistol. I dont's see a wedge pin. What keeps the barrel from jumping out of the stock?

I got to steal this thread a second:
Bodie I love your avatar!
Now back to your regularly scheduled discussion.

There are at least 4 different configurations of the Jukars/CVA/Traditions/etc. Kentucky pistol.

All use a tang screw at the back. One uses just one screw through the nose cap, another uses two screws through the nose cap, the third uses one screw through the nose cap and another through the front thimble and the fourth uses one screw through the nose cap and one screw between the nose cap and the front thimble.

If you start looking at the smaller CVAs like the derringer or the colonial, they use a tang screw and a pinned lug. I've seen a lot of these that were kit builds where the builder chose to leave it unpinned, but I would want more than just a tang screw if I were going to fire one.

Thanks for the information. Seems to me that the attachment at the muzzle is steel screw going into the barrel. The tang screw screws into the wood stock. I would think removing and tightening the tang screw each time the gun was cleaned would eventually enlarge the hole in the wood stock.

Any experience with this tang screw wearing out the wood?

Mine has the tang screw and two nose screws into the barrel. The tang screw does not go into the stock. It goes all the way through and into the trigger assembly.
I need a ramrod for mine. Anyone know what size and where I can get one.

I have a Pedersoli Queen Anne pistol, not what I would call a "cheap" pistol, but it only has the barrel attached by the tang screw.

it is not necessary to take the pistol apart for each cleaning...plug the vent or nipple and pour hot soapy water dont the bore,,,run a patch up and down and pour the dirty water out...rinse a few times..dry it with clean patches and oil...
just make sure it is DRY ...befor you oil..
