Got tired of the Man Purse myself for the Rendezvous line shooting and woods walks.
I made this belt bag this winter after trading my shoulder bag with a member here.
The bag leather is 4-5oz Oil Tan from "The Leather Guy". Kieth an Tracy run the `vous cuircut and have a shop here in Minn.

The bag measures 6" wide x 7 1/2" wide with a 2" gusset.
Adorned with a tanned beaver tail that's stitched on.
The bottom of the gusset has a piece of 5oz Vegtan glued to the bottom to
keep it's width instead of collapsing around my gear, and one inside pocket.

The front outside has a pocket for my Ted Cash Riflemen's capper.

I haven't tried it at the range, I actually made the belt hoops so they could
detach at the bottom and allow for a shoulder strap to be attached.

!!* dang photo bucket!!

Great looking bag, and really fine workmanship.

Any photos of that? Sounds like a great idea, and I'd like a little "inspiration" for how to do it myself.

that's a really nice looking pouch/bag thingie you've got there!

i especially like the gusset at the bottom ... i've often toyed with the idea of a really stiff bit at the bottom to keep the whole thing from slurping into itself and capturing all my gadgets.

i also ike the notion of putting straps onto it later - keep the option open ... as politicians sasy, "never say 'never' " ...

what's the size of it? i'm guessing about six inches wide and eight inches high, and about an inch or so deep?

again- great looking work!

:hatsoff:

I just left the belt loops a little long.
You can see the rectangle stitching for the top of the belt loops in the middle picture up top, then I folded'm over and made a single row stitch to accommodate my 2" belt (those are 1/2" marks on that paper).

Shaped the bottom of the belt loops a little and placed a single stitch to hold that last inch down. There's no glue on this one, the Oil Tan won't take it.

If it doesn't work as a belt bag, I can cut that single stitch, and the row of stitches and the belt loops become the leather attachment's for something like one of member Shortarms fancy hand woven straps,

MSW, it's 6" wide an 7 1/2 high x 2" gusset.

You can't really see it, (I guess that was the idea) but it took three different shades of thread to get that tail on there. I stitched only in the grain down and across near the edges and some in the middle to prevent any puckering.

Sweet!
I miss those guy's coming to the smaller vous, I used to love going through his "scrap" boxes.
With what he called scrap I built several bags-n-pouches.
He still has good prices and shipping with big enough pieces to do things with yet not break the bank buying a full half hide.
This one I did with 4 sq. ft. and still have some left.
I like how he's got his site layed out too, you see the exact measurement's (photo's with a tape measure) of the piece your buying,
