I'm going to shoot my new BP shotgun for the first time tomorrow.
I'm completely new at this game and have been reading all I can about BP. I have some TC bore butter which I was told to use as a lube on the felt wads, to keep the fowling soft so you can fire mulitipal shots before cleaning is needed.
I have put bore butter and crisco on the felt wads but was unsure how much to put on. What I did was apply a bit of heat so the material would liquify and spread it on the edges of the felt with my finger. I used more crisco then bore butter cause it's a whole lot cheaper.
How much lube is needed? Also, should I prep the bore of my shotgun with the bore butter before shooting? If so, should the bore butter be placed down as far as where the BP goes?
Any other tips are appriciated. Thanks
