Morning. What are the best books still in print with pictorial examples of the northwest trade guns through their timeline? thanks
 
I don’t know about the best but this seems good to me. I have read and re read it numerous times to my benefit.

There are a bunch . Wish I could send ya pics of all the ones I have , maybe later . The one ," For Trade and Treaty " , that Dave posted ,sure is a good one . Great pictures !! Some of the very early books ...you have to be careful about their info . Ive read book that say the NW trade gun was developed in the 1780s , its a Mountain Man period , 1820-1850 , gun only and stuff like that ... The N.W. trade gun is mentioned by name in the 1750s. By the way ...the really large trigger guards on NW guns came about approx. 1780 . Thats from archeologist and auther T.M. Hamilton . Any who ...best of luck
