You need to post them from a service. Most everyone here uses www.photobucket.com First you need to set up an account there, it's free. then post your pictures there. They need to be Jpegs. Then start a post, and below the post window, under ubbcode you will click on image. At this point you will go to photobucket, select the picture you want to post and copy and paste the url(listed below the picture in photobucket) into the image frame in the post. you can add text before and after if you want. Test it in preview before you post to make sure you don't have two Http:'s at the beginning of the inserted photo. If you don't have a picture in the preview. Give it a try, and if I missed anything, there's plenty of others to help you. Bill

Although it's long, here is my genuine pattent answer I send to folks.
Maybe by printing it here, I can answer a lot of folks questions without having to PM them. :)

If you have pictures on your computer you can post them but first you have to join a site that will store copies of your pictures.

To do this, I would suggest that you join Photobucket.

It's free and easy to join.

Here is a link to their site:

PHOTOBUCKET

When you join, I would suggest that you use your ValleyForge name or something else just to protect your actual identity.

This name will become a part of the pictures address that anyone can read.

To get your picture on their site, log on to it.

You will see a ADD PICTURES box with a button in it that says BROWSE

Click the browse button and it will open your computer hard drive area. Go to the place your picture is stored. It will open icons of your picture.

Click on your selection and it will get a highlighted box around it. At the bottom of the window, is a button that says OPEN. Click it. The window will close getting you back to the ADD PICTURES area.

Now click on the button that says SUBMIT. For a moment nothing will happen, then you will see your picture start to show up in a little icon window box.

When it's finished, you will note a box under the icon box with your picture in it.

The top window says URL and has the pictures new web address in it.

Highlite the stuff in the URL window and using your right mouse button to open a window push COPY.

Your computer has now stored the pictures address in its tempory memory.

Go back to the Muzzleloading Forum and start your new post.

When you want to show the picture, click on the place that says Image in the "Instant UBB Code" box below where your typing.

That will open a little box which has the letters http:// typed into it.

Wipe out the http:// and with your curser in the window, right click to open the command window and push "PASTE'.

That will paste the pictures address into the window. After it's done this, poke the OK button and the pictures address will be put into the Post your making.

When your done with your typing and picture posting, use the CONTINUE button at the bottom of the page.

Be sure the "I want to preview my message" box is checked.

Your post will then show up for your proof reading, and the picture will also show up.

If you like it then finish posting it to the Forum.

The only thing Photobucket requires is the pictures need to be less than 250KB. If you can edit your picture to be more like 50KB it will load a lot faster when people want to open your post. Also, with the computers CRT, files at 50KB will look just as sharp as larger files.

The Muzzleloading Forum requires you pictures to be less than 700 (I think) pixels wide. If their wider than that, you can't post them.

I usually use something around 650 or less.

Although you can change your pictures size after it is in Photobucket, it is best to do it when you are filing it in your computer.

I have a special Folder just for these small web pictures so I don't screw up my big original picture files. Then when I'm in Photobucket, and open the Browse window, I just go to my "WEB" folder to get what I want.

Have fun.

Hey, Zonie can we make your post a permanent one in "using th forum" so we can just refer folks to the post. In fact there are at least five or six how to's that could be posted perminately there, for newbies, and those of us with C.R.S. can't remember sh%t. Bill

Bill: Several thoughts: I'm not real sure there aren't some mistakes in it. Also, some people don't really like asking a question only to be told "Go look in the ....."
A lot of people don't bother to read thru all of the boreing stuff like FAQ, Forum Rules and "How To Disagree without being Disagreeable" (I made that up but you get my drift?).

Also, when some folks ask the question about photos, they think I am a real nice guy for taking the time to write all of that stuff out and sending it to them. Little do they suspect that I have it stored on my hard drive. (Of course folks like BearTrap and Soddie are wondering why I called them ValleyForge but they haven't ever asked me about it.
Besides that, if it was a easily accessable bit of information, I'd loose my faithful following and have to go back to shooting those modern things. :( :kid:

zonie
Thanks for the info. I know it can be a pain to keep repeating yourself over and over.
I read through the faq's, but didn't see how to post photos. Maybe I just missed it.

OK, Zonie. That works as good and I don't really mind either. It was just a thought. Anyway it gives you more time to make 6 1/2 lb. guns into 8 lb'ers with all dem inlays  Bill
