3rd time out for my T.OT.W. northwest trade gun. I swear the trigger pull is getting lighter. Maybe I am just getting used to it. The first time I went out I was doing the old Indian thing of using 2 fingers.
I am not sure there is much of anything more satisfying then shooting a gun you built-well assembled anyway-on a sunny crisp fall saturday morning at the range.
I am one of those guys who shoots alot of different types of guns-modern, pistols, black rifles etc. But it seems like these days when the time and weather come together I reach for the flinters in my gun cabinet.
I probably will do some mods to my smoothie this cold Indiana winter. I am still not satisfied with the shape of the forend.
But she's a fun shooter.

You can somewhat adjust the pull of the trigger by where you place your finger on it, having your finger lower on the trigger will give you more leverage and it will pull easier than a higher finger placement...

It still will have the same pull, it'll just require less effort with the added leverage...

Out of all my too many guns, my TOTW Northwest Gun is my favorite to shoot. I got a little anxious to get it together and left the forend a bit chunky, but have since slimmed it down. My trigger pull sounds a bit like yours, but it is a great offhand shooter. Mine seems to like a .600 ball, .018 patch lubed with balistol cut at the muzzle, 80 gr of fffg goex, and the same powder in the pan.

I am shooting the same ball and patch, lubing with Maxi Lube. I have been using 60 grains of FF and 4f in the pan.
Have you tried triple seven and 4f together in the barrel? I understand it works. Blackpowder is getting hard to find in my area. I have a pound of 4f which if I only use it in the pan will probably last 10 years.

No, I have never tried anything but Goex, I had quite a bit of fouling with ffg so i went to the fffg. That combined with the balistol, and I can shoot all day without fouling.
