I spent 20 years doing medieval reenactment and while there is much leeway there, Rondy's are a bit different from my observation. I have a few questions and hope for good answers and good debate.
Here is my dilemma, I am hitting 50 and am in need of a knee replacement (causes severe cramping/pain at night along with back pain and soreness) so sleeping on a cot is a path I do not wish to take.

What are peoples feelings/thoughts/tolerances toward a towed campers and are there events that allow them?

I love the primitive aspects of this hobby/way of life but pain causes other facets to consider. Like putting up a tent, moving equipment etc. The back and knee don't appreciate the added stress :(

Thank you for looking at this through my (and many others that life has caught up with) eyes and I ask for these thoughts because I don't want to stay at home and miss out from good folks.

Thanks for views.

Cheers, DonK

Can't say for sure about your area, but around here they usually have a primitive camp and a separate modern camp that allows tin teepees.

Some of the older guys will set up a primitive camp, but sleep in a camper. Guess they went to all the time and expense putting their kit together so they still want to show it off.

When in doubt, ask the booshway.

It depends on the event and the limitations of the site, but many have a modern camping area and a number of vendors sleep in their RVs in the parking area. It may involve a bit of a walk each way but a modern tent or camper should be doable at many/most events. As mentioned, some put up a small period tent to have a place to hang out & store lunches, purchases, trade blanket gear, etc. Just ask the event organizers & you are very likely to be pointed to an ok site outside the main camp.

All of the events that I have been to allow tin Teepee's. they have areas for those that choose to go that route. but alot that I ahve been to don't have electricity hook ups for them.

Yup, like others have said campers are usually allowed in a seperate area,,behind a tree line or out where everyone parks, just so it's out of sight of the main camp.
But like Frosty said, No Hook up's, at least you have a bed, an Ma can have a cook stove.

I know some will set up an awning in the main camp so they have someplace to rest an visit.

p.s. generators are frowned upon,,too noisy

I understand the problem with generators  with the noise. Not too period is it!!!! :rotf:
Glad to see there are many events with the options available.
I like the idea of an awning or small setup for socializing. I think that would be grand.

Many Roundy's allow an area for "tin tippies" My self I went to a one pole for ease of set up. And made a bed for sleeping on after I almost had the call the squad to get me out of my cot. I've had two back surgeries and am postponing a knee replacement so I know where you are coming from about the leg cramps at roundy's.But I am a stuborn old fool so I'll roundezvous as long as I can find some one to help pound the tent stakes. For the last eight years I had my nephew's boy's come with me to help set up. This served two purposes. 1. It allowed me to continue and 2. It got two young men into buckskinning. Now I am hoping the daughter will allow my grandson to help!

Got two youngbloods involved!! :hatsoff:

AWESOME!! That is the way to do it. I am looking at a single pole square from Panther as a possibility and then build some type of bed or get a really good cot. (if there is one to be had.)
The better half wants a camper for my young son 2.5 y.o. and her (yes it was the 'night of passion' oops :rotf: ) so one step at a time.
