traded a Robertson Stykbow recurve, have a caywood that I've been working up a load with shot, think I'll use this one for round ball. only thing about this one is I'm only 5'6" so I may need a sted stool to load it :rotf:

Seriously, it doesn't hurt a thing to load your gun at a slant, it does not have to be straight up. Just put the butt on the ground and slowly step to the side until the muzzle is at the right height for you. Keep the muzzle away from your face when loading. Lost a good mustache and stunk for a week after pouring down the powder and getting a cook off. Good Luck with that new JB.
