Is this a very good magazine? I checked the website out to get the subscription price. I don't care to pay it, if it is a good magazine and you can learn from it.
What is your thoughts on it? Thank you for your time.

Thanks, Guys - Looks like it's too early to call out the dogs and I'm still in the mail-mix.

VThompson - Personally, I like the magazine, but I always shy away from thinking what I like someone else will. I guess the best way to decide is to get a copy and judge for yourself. The folks there are pretty helpful. Try giving them a call and request a sample copy t see if you would like to subscribe.

Keep in mind, this is about the only muzzleloading magazine available. Yes, there's "Muzzle Blasts" which is the newsletter for the NMLRA, but "Muzzleloader" is about the only game in town.

Thank's for the response guy's. I checked the website out and it sounded pretty good so I signed up for a 1 year subscription.

My Nov/Dec issue arrived today. I've been a suscriber for more than 20 years. I don't read every article but there is enough the bok historical and practical hands-on to keep me on the mailing list.

I think its a great magazine and have enjoyed it ever since I was a kid...and I aint just saying that cause Im biased..if you havent ever read it and are interested in muzzle loading, I honestly think you owe it to your self to get ahold of a copy and check it out...

TC you're absolutely right. I've been a long, long time reader of this magazine. For so long that it seems like most of the writers almost feel like family  I love the history and how to make stuff along with everything else about the mag.

My only major complaint, I do not see it in the newsstands or magazine racks, i.e. Barnes & Nobles, etc. Why not? My first introduction to black powder (a love rekindled) was from attending to a major gun show in Albany, NY back in the 70's. One table had back issues of Muzzleloader and Muzzle Blasts. I bought everyone of them. While I had already subscribed to NMLRA I didn't recall at the time seeing any advertisements in Muzzle Blasts for Muzzleloader Mag. To say the least, Muzzleloader Mag has been and still is my favorite.
Perhaps (hint Ms Scurlock) more people would be more inclined to get involved into 'traditional' black powder shooting if they were exposed to the real side of the sport. Not those other 'wannabe' blackpowder mags that you see all the time that really all they want from you is your hard earned bucks.
I've read thru this thread and I'm shocked that a number of you don't seem to be aware this publication has been around a good long time. Don't feel bad about it, ask "why didn't I know about this earlier"? Could it be you didn't see an issue next to Field & Stream, etc when you were browsing a magazine rack why the missus was shopping for something else? Hmmmm. How do we fix that? Or perhaps your shooting buddy assumed you already were a subscriber or wasn't going to let his issue disappear  .

Perhaps if enough of us closed our postings or emails with the website maybe we would get more 'converts' to the 'traditional' side vs. the dark side. :v . Sorry, couldn't resist.

Muzzleloader and Muzzle Blasts are the only two magazines that deal with frontstuffing, blackpowder smoking, round ball shooting guns.

Muzzleloader has a heavier emphasis on the historic aspects of reenacting, trekking, clothing and history.

Muzzle Blasts is the house magazine for the NMLRA, a good organization, they have a lot of club information but they also have some highly technical shooting information that can not be found any where else.

I get both magazines and I read both of them cover to cover.
