Just gof an e-message from the good floks at The Maine Powder House. Null-B is just now in.
Ready for the price???
You sitting down???
23 bucks a pound! :curse: :curse:
OUCH!
Still I gotta try a pound. Inquiring minds don'cha'know.
It'd better be significantly better than ordinary 4gf at tht price.
Maybe it jumps into the pan all by itself and loads yer gun fer ya? :haha:

Maxi..."Most" places in the Northwest are charging around the $23...+ change, for Goex. I'm not familar with "NULL-B" but it seems to be priced about the same as Swiss here.
WHEN YOU CAN FIND REAL BLACK,I might add. Things are getting tougher every month or so up here. Due to the Patriot Act, we're told, or some new regulations in Homeland Security.... I personally don't have a clue as why it's happening, but it sure as heck is.

RussB. Yeh it's so hard to find a shop that sells a pound of black around here I just quite trying and buy a case when I have some extra money. It's cheaper in the long run anyway. I'll be splitting a case pretty soon with a local shooter. nice if you can get 2 'er 3 guys to do that.

Strange - I picked up 8lbs. of GOEX BP at $20.00 to $22.50 per Lb. in Southern Ontario. Both shops I went into had it, but ot much. I cleaned them out, but both said it wasn't hard for them to get it. In B.C. or Alberta, there isn't a carrier who will transport real BP - the phony stuff only. The dangerous goods carrier, a contract through the Federal Government, refuses to carry BP & the government won't make them.
; For anyone here in the forum, from B.C., Alberta or even Washington State, the Hefly Creek Rendexvous during the September 1st week(Labour Day week)BP will be available for approximately $18.00 to $20.00 per LB Canadian. In US funds, that's about $13.00 to 14.50 US per lb. straight exchange.
; It's a GREAT shoot, with comraderie being the most important aspect of the week. Competition will range from primitive stuff axe/knife throwing, bow and arrows (primitive stuff only - no fiberglass or aluminum) through trail walks with flint & perc matches, smoothbore ball and sot and a cross-stick ctg. gun match to 500 or so yards on steel critters, ranges undefined.

I had a place within 1/2 mile of me that sells REAL black powder, (FFg FFFg FFFFg) within walking distance...

I just called them today, they let their lisence expire!!! :curse: :curse: :curse:

I feel your pain. Now I'm running into the "It's the wrong season for #11 primers - come back in October." OOhhh that burns me. It's obvious the local sporting goods stores (including Wal-Mart) believe that practice and familarity aren't necessary for hunting implements. Gun sales and promotions are DURING hunting season instead of months before. Buy it in the morning, take it hunting in the afternoon.

Hey! Maybe I can get a class action suit going and become a millionare. Reckless Encouragement of Shoddy Marksmanship.

I moved this from "Flintlock" as an example of a non-Lube related thread - showing it can be accomplished!! :haha:

Nul B is labeled Nul B Ignition Powder.
This powder is specificaly for use as a pan powder in flintlocks.

Swiss 4Fg is highly glazed. It is not as fine as 4Fg in other brands of BP.

The Swiss Nul B Ignition Powder is hotter and faster than their 4Fg powder.

I had first looked at this in the summer of 2003 when two cases came into the U.S. for testing. I was impressed. Very fast and very hot. Faster and more reliable. The rifles were less prone to misfires if the vents were partially blocked by powder residue. It also amazed me in that the lock remained very clean. No buildup under the pan cover and no neeed to wipe the lock down after a few shots. Ran 20 rounds without wiping the lock and it fired every time.

This is a hot selling item at Friendship when it gets into their powder magazine.
