I built a trade gun from Hansons sketchbook, and will build a NW tradegun next, & have Pryor Mtn. Bills notebook on the NW trade gun. The drawings and templates appear to show no cast off. Is this correct?? ::

Hi Donny,I have both books mentioned and I don't see any cast off also, I have seen a few originals and have never noticed any.I would like to make a trade gun myself keep me posted as to your progress.good Luck. rusty

These Northwest trade guns were made in very large numbers for sale or trade to whites and Indians alike. They were made as were virtually all English guns according to a particular pattern and one size fit all. The exception would be a gun made or restocked for a high ranking officer or official, certainly not for the everyday customer with his bale of furs.
