obtaining chocolet color stain

was going over tow's web site just to see whats for sale, and came across that Virginia rifle and its chocolet color stain sure would like to put it on my Virginia thats almost complete except for final sanding,only have experiance with aquafortise, and that usually makes the stock much darker, that chocolet color is just what I'd like too see, I know the acid in the would dictates what the real color will be but who makes a stian or other traditional method, is better.bb75
 
Potassium Permanganate will stain maple from a light brown all the way to almost black according to the nimber of coats. I have used it to get a chocolate color a couple of times.
