It was a customer's gun(I'm a contractor, and the owner and I were talking hunting). He wanted to know if I knew anything about strange old guns. Here's the best description I can give you of it; I didn't have a camera, and doubt the guy would've wanted someone he barely knew taking pics of his piece anyhow. He thought it was some odd .22LR.

It -seemed- to be about the diameter of a modern .410. It is percussion with a back action lock. The ramrod was very thin for the bore size, about 1/8" steel rod or so with a bore sized knob. The only sight was a front bead that was off to the left. I can't remember, but it may have had double triggers, may've been a single. It was sized for a kid/younger shooter. It had "made in Spain" and a bunch of numbers on it, no other intelligible words. It had a steel butt plate, a slim, lighter colored wood stock, and had a lot of pretty darned decent carving(French lion or maybe dragon's face) in the semi-pistol grip area. The muzzle was a bit out of round. The gun overall had a cheap, homespun look to it, and was thus neat looking. The thin ramrod, out of round muzzle, and bead off to one side left me not desiring to shoot it had the offer been made. He said it was his father in law's. I told him I thought it looked like something imported between the 1950's to early 1970's, and the local muzzle loading shop could tell him a lot more than I could. Sorry I don't have any pics. Anybody ever seen a gun like this? :hmm:

Yup, I own one, use 44 caliber wonder wads 50 grs powder and equal shot.Neat little gun your info is right on. The indians down in mexico use them alot still. I've killed a couple of partridge with mine. It would make a good rat gun for the barn.

I have a similar gun, no carving, little capbox, stocked to the muzzle, a sheet brass strip hiding where the joint in the forend. It was on sale in the '70s, $29.95. Too low priced not to buy it. Had to make a new mainspring, but apart from that it works just fine. Shot a lot of ptarmigan with it.

I had one I used as a stage prop to fire off a blank load to introduce my Mountainman poetry routine, sure got folks attention. :haha:

Neat, I think that I have a old one of those still in a kit form.
I will have to look for it. I think that it is a front action lock
on mine and maybe a .38 caliber. For sure it’s a smooth bore.

Every time I run across it when looking for something else
I think what a neat little gun that would be, then I notice
that the cute little, little lock doesn’t really fit the dead white
stock. I would have to graft in new wood or Acraglas.
Then of course the little, little lock is to small for the little
barrel.

Then in a few more years I will run across it again and think
what a cute little gun that is.

If I find it, I will post some pictures of the parts.

Tinker2 has way to much “stuff” and still looking for more.
