did this on saterday it's a 6" old hickory skinner
did it with files,the sheath was done by my 11 yearold nephew with me showing him what to do,he did a great job for a first time,will fit better scales latter.

That looks pretty good and your nephew did a good job with the sheath
 
Nice knife and great sheath!

Backwoodsman Magazine did an article on doing this modification of a classic "skinner" pattern knife in an article around a year ago. The goal was to replicate that early 1900's pattern/shape knife that Nessmuck designed for his own use up in the Michigan forests.
