Old Lead Bullets

Have a bunch of old bullets for 50 cal that lubricant has dried - what is best way to re- lube without removing old lube - will shoot in percussion hawken- a little bore butter?

i would remove the old lube so you can fill the grooves with the lube ,bore butter would work but be messy

You can clean by boiling it in water and relube OR just dip them in melted lube.

Will mix some crisco and bees wax - should this work

I have had the same problem that has more than one answer. You don't want to relube so you can take out the upper lube which usually crumbles easily. then pack new lube around the bottom grooves. this would be for range use only. For hunting loads i would relube using a double boiler with the new lube and not worry about the old lube mixing in.
