what do you use to remove old lube off lead bullets

Acetone or Mineral Spirits.

I had some that the lube just cracked and fell off.

Soak in hot water.

When I stumbled several boxes of T/C MaxiHunter conicals for $2/box @ at an unmentionables fun shop, they were so old that the lube had dried up white/hard - so I just use a jeweler's screwdriver to gouge the dried lube out of all the bullet's grooves and relube them as needed by hand.

Bullets with old lube that I've acquired were easy to rub off with the fingers. Mostly it just cracked and fell off.

Boil and skim.

Oven at 170 degrees, the preheat temp for easy lube fill
Also removes it, not more than 20 minutes should do.
