There will be a Civil War event this Fri, Sat and Sun in Old Washington, Ark. battle reenactments Sat&Sun [Fri is schoolkid day, demos, etc.]. Old Washington is noted as a frontier town, where the Bowies and Davy Crockett visited, it was on the Trail of Tears, and was the capitol of Ark during the Civil War when Little Rock fell. It straddles five trails, including the old trail to Texas, and was the home of James Black, noted knife maker of the 1820s-30s. Now a state park, the town is worth a visit anytime, but Civil War weekend is a great time to visit, if any of y'all are close...I'll be with the 4th LA artillery [1st Sgt].
