Yea, guess it would be called something like an INLINE.  since the primer would be right in line with the vent hole.

SnakeEyes,

I have seen a few "instructional" videos and clips where both traditional and inline "muzzleloaders" were being shot. The caplocks fired fast and reliably, but I swear they must've deliberately overprimed the flinters to get the Hollywodd "whoosh-hiss-pfffft-bang". Only twice on TV have I seen flinters firing FAST. One was in the early Eighties on the old Outdoor Life network show. They showed a contemporary rendevous and a lot of custom flinters were being shot including a few by Hershel House. They all fired so fast and reliably (to say nothing of the speed of the House guns) that I could scarce believe my eyes. I was a percussin shooter thanks to all the bravo sierra printed over the years about how "slow" and "unreliable" flintlocks inherently are.

The other was a piece specifically about Hershel and showed his shop, jalopy and mutt. All the things that make the man so "colorful". Say what you want, his guns are SHOOTERS! Ditto for Brad Emig, Glenn Jones and Kit Ravenshear. Those boys do NOT let schlock get out the door with their names on it.

Call me a conspiracy nut, but WHEN has Jackie Bushman had a traditional BP hunt on Buckmasters? When has a traditional buckskinner even been allowed to compete at the Classic? Could inline money be talking? Hmmmmmm.

-Ray :hmm:

If it's 'bout inlines,.... "don't look at the TV screen"!!
