I have for sale a 10Ga. single barrel English sporting gun by Southall (Likely Richard Southall the younger and Wheeler who opened shop in Birmingham in 1837) in amazing shape. The stock inletting is still tight and there are no cracks the checkering is still reasonably crisp and while it may have had additional coats of oil over the years the finish looks original.
All of the metal has grayed but there is no corrosion damage present and all of the metal is tastefully engraved. The barrel is amazing in the damascus pattern that carries over into the under rib and even the thimbles and is simply beautiful to behold. The barrel starts out octagon transitions to 16 flats then a wedding band transition to round. The bore is in excellent shape there is a small amount of scattered pinpricks that could be pits but nothing that in anyway would preclude shooting and cleaning fully 90%+ of the bore is clean and smooth. The nipple is a replacement and removes easily.
The lock is marked Southall and is engraved and is in perfect mechanical shape with no issues what so ever.
The ramrod is likely original with the brass faced horn trumpet on one end and a shielded brass load puller on the other end. The ramrod is captured by the under rib in English fashion.
Details are weight 7lbs 8ox, barrel length 31in, over all 47&1/2in, length of pull 14in, drop at heel 2in. Overall this shotgun has been exceptionally well cared for over the years and stands fully ready for field or range.
Feel free to ask any questions.
I am asking $1150 plus shipping anywhere in the CONUS it is legal to ship to. Payment by postal money order or personal check with time to clear.
