Dagger is old, but I don't know where to date it. Mounts appear to be coin silver from the color of the tarnish. Blade is 3/32" x 5/8" x 5 3/4". Grip is 2 13/16", could be bone, polished antler, or even some form of ivory. It has a through tang with the grip being secured by an oval ball, and the tang peened down on it. I changed the guard on my copy to obtain more usable grip. My copy is done in nickel silver and polished antler with an 01 blade. The original sheath is leather with no wood core, and mounts of the same metal. There are no markings on the original knife, or sheath. Anybody got any ideas on the period?

Dang Wick you did a good job again :) early to mid 1800's would be my guess but who knows could be earlier so whats the scoop on this does it belong to a customer? BTW you always do a good job!

Superb work! Wick, is that just a leather sheath or a wood scabbard? If it is a scabbard is it a friction fit that retains the dagger?

Haven't a clue about the period...

Beautiful!!! Reminds me of the Randall #2 knife. I like yours better than the Randall and the old knife you have shown. Stunning work.

Wick-I think your original is Eastern European, possibly Russian. That style of knife is well known in that part of the world.

Could the hilt be goose-fat amber vs. bone? This material was used in that part of the world, and would suggest Eastern origins.

Nice repro.....the care is there

I did. I guess he doesn't like me since I told him I thought he was a bit rude to a Euro poster that barely understood English. Geez, youda thought I had insulted royalty by that. I guess he figgered I had.
