This pistol was later converted to percussion by fitting it with a new quality lock.
When the percussion conversion was made a new quality percussion lock was installed along with a snail-styled drum that screws in where the touch hole was originally installed.
The percussion lock remains tight as new & in perfect working order.
*Would be an easy reconversion back to flintlock !

Pistols walnut stock remains in solid condition with ornate flint era brass hardware & is tipped with a horn nose cap & ramrod is also tipped in horn.

NOTE; This pistol would make an excellent shooter but recommend the barrel be re-lined by someone like Bobby Hoyt.

Anything is possible but I believe with close examination of the conversion I think you would also agree it started life as a flintlock.
Due to the flint era style hardware I believe the flintlock was replaced with the percussion.

Another conversion indication is the percussion bolster looking conversion screws into side of the barrel just forward of tip of the breech plug.
This pistol with a bolster type conversion is a bit different, usually percussion conversions on these type pistols were done with a drum.

It is an interesting pistol with it's longer barrel & remains in pretty nice condition for it's age.
Nice quality lock & points well, good candidate to shoot with a barrel liner.

Is barrel lining needed for safety? Or only for accuracy? In other words is it shootable as is?

Darto I've shot primarily original firearms for over 60 years but some forum members lack any experience in that arena & tend to use excessive loads so thats why I recommended installing a liner.
I've not fired this particular pistol in my collection but due to the barrels flintlock era build I would install a liner just to assure safety.
If your somewhat mechanically inclined liners are not difficult to install & have installed them myself, Track of the Wolf sells smooth & rifled liners by the inch if that option interests you.
