I have had some stuff on back-order with October Country for several weeks now. Mostly it was felt Ox Yoke wads in .54 cal. I called today to check on order and they said they just arrived! The lady at October Country said the employees have taken over and are now making wads and patches. Everything is being shipped. She did say though that they do not have the lic to use NL 1000 but are using something similar.....

I will try them out and post my results.

Heard "through the grapevine" that the employees have come up with a "similiar, but improved" version of wonder lube.

Interesting...I use a lot of TC's Natural Lube 1000 and #13 cleaner...luckily, during the past year I picked up a case/tubes of NL1000, and a case/bottles of #13 at half price on GunBroker...

I used some of those new "Ox Yoke" wads this weekend in both my .50 and .54. They looked the same, smelled the same - created no more fouling than any other time, etc.

Most importantly they shot the same. I would say the employees that have taken over are doing a fine job.

Widowbender, curious to know if they were packaged differently...in other words, do you know that they are new production, or could they simply be previous older stock that was still in the supply pipeline? Thanks

Bill,

They looked and smelled curiously similar. I put them next to older stock of Ox Yoke wads and I could see no difference at all.

The packaging on the new stock was just a small ziplock bag with .50 and .54 written on the bags in black perm. marker. The bag was missing the usual ox yoke cardboard flap but everything else was the same.

Did you order directly from them, or through a supplier and that's how the wads showed up?

The folks that took over the Ox-Yoke products have really jumped into the deep water and are having to do a lot of kicking and such just to stay afloat, and they figured that the most important thing was to get the products out and worry about the niceties (like labels) later.
From talking to them they said that as of last week, they had gotten labels and package headers printed and will be looking more like a real business now.
I guess the main purpose of headers is to provide a place to punch a hole so it can be hung up on a wall, and to identify what the heck it is, the real proof of the pudding is what's inside, but we, as consumers, have come to expect fancy packaging and we equate what's inside with what's on the outside. Sorry, the rant is officially over now.
Anyway, I am pretty happy with what I have seen so far from all the things we have gotten in from them. They are doing a good job, and we appreciate their willingness to do everything they can to continue a good product line, even if they are a little slow in getting some of the frills taken care of. And no, they are not repackaging old Ox-Yoke merchandise, it is all new production. There was not much left on the shelves at the Ox-Yoke plant. We got a small shipment in June, I think, but it was just odds and ends, and didn't even start to fill our order that we had on file. Hope this helps clarify the Ox Yoke situation.

Big Smoke...

Did not mean any harm about my packaging comments.

For the record I used these new wads over the weekend and they shot fine. No problems.

If I had to guess I would say they are really Ox Yoke wads in a plain candy wrapper...

I think we were just talking Q&A's back and forth, trying to understand what and how oxyoke products were emerging back on the scene, etc.

I'd love to see them market Moose Snot to the inline crowd!

FYI, you only need lube in an inline when shooting PRB or conical. If shooting sabot, then a dry bore with no perfume, colored pretty pink, overly high priced packaging moose snot is required.

:)

I'm thrilled that the former Ox-Yoke employee's have taken over at least portions of the former operation. I've always loved Ox-Yoke products and the folks that actually produced them was the why.
