Anybody heard of a replacement supplier stepping up to buy out the OxYoke manufacturing business, or a supplier that is going to duplicating the OxYoke product line?

I have heard that the employees have purchased the company and plan to continue the line. However, October Country has stated that their "new" product is not in keeping with the old company---..."ya pays yur money and take yer choice...." :m2c:

some one has placed a thred about a company called duro-felt that makes felt and all ya need is a punch to knock out your diam.as for patches your going to have to go to wallyworld or some other fabric stores and lube your self, hate to sound cold . bb75 :peace: :peace:

I've been on the lookout. I've seen nothing as of yet.

Really hope that the same quality products become available from somewhere soon.

I did quite a bit of stocking up so I'm good for likely the rest of this year.

Yes, someone should pick up the ball here.

How can we expect to get by without solutions to problems that do not exist?

You guys want traditional shooting, now is the time to get traditional!

The world is deviding into two camps:
1. inline slug and sabot shooters
2. Home brew-spit patch, and RB sidelock shooters

Guess who the wholesalers are choking out?

Folks are no longer going to Wally World and buying a Bobcat, 20 round balls and a pack of wonderwads or wonder patches. They are buying in-lines and a box of sabots or conicals for their one supply run per year.

OX Yoke may be the first casulty among many small suppliers that provided pre-prep items for the factory made sidelock market.

:hmm:

Ghost,

I have no idea :what: are you talking about?

From everything that I can tell, Ox-Yoke did not run aground because of lack of sales or inlines running them out of business.

A couple months ago I decided to outfit myself for a 5 year plan at 1000 shots/year average...powder, wads, patches, balls, etc...just picked up another 1400 TC .018" prelubed pillow ticking patches on auction last week and that finishes off the plan...

Well, all of the talk here about the Ox-Yoke shortage-to-be finally forced me to find some pillow ticking, mike it (.017) and start lubing with wonder wad and cutting at the muzzle...years ago, I'd done this, using any fabric I had at hand..then I switched to Ox-yoke pre-lubed...I'm happy enough with my new situation that I may not go back to Ox-yoke when it re-starts...Hank

I had heard a rumour that Deer Creek Products was contracting with someone (don't know if it's former Ox-Yoke personnel) to produce the various wads and such that were previously supplied by Ox-Yoke. Supposedly to be ready for this fall's hunting seasons. That's what I heard anyway.

These folks produce an excellent product and they have any size you could ever want.

I just got off the phone with a fellow at Track of The Wolf and he told me that Ox-yoke was having some legal troubles and was going to be up and running in a couple months. He said that they are going to keep making all of the products they were currently making and TOW was sure enough to have the products put into next years catalog.. Just FYI

Hope that's true...I've used all their products the entire time I've been muzzleloading, always had excellent results with their wads, patches, #13 cleaner, and NL1000...have a good supply of everything on hand for myself now, but would still hate to see a good product line go under

I find myself in agreement with Ghost on this. So many people sound like chicken little over this. Why does anyone need precut patches? Seems odd to me to have a primitive weapon and then rely upon some overpriced prepackaged bit of cloth when making your own with a lube of your choice in a size that is chosen for your particular ball and barrel is so cheap and easy? DIY and do it better.

While Wally World pillow ticking is my most often used, I have about 6 types of cloth for various needs. It all cost a fraction of the prepackaged stuff.

On the other hand, I also see that the losing of the primitive components from the mainstream is a problem for us in that there are fewer primitive products for us and therefore less exposure for people to enter this sport/hobby and less support for those who do enter it.

On the other hand, this resource fills that void and the suppliers and builders listed here are our future. Support them in things that matter.

".....Why does anyone need precut patches? Seems odd to me....."

Funny choice of words..."odd"...would not be a word I'd use to categorize choices that others make...but the explanation is simple...precut / prelubed patches are convenient, consistent, and they save me time.
I already shoot TC Hawkens which are not PC to begin with, so using precut/prelubed pillow ticking patches is hardly an issue for me.

Tried to order some today at TOW and they were out of all but .10 in the .54cal. Said it would be a long time before they got anymore.

You might want to check the 'Possible Shop' at the top of the Forum...they list them

I haven't tried anywhere else...I ordered all the stuff for a .54cal. I'm building...530 and 535 balls...530 mold, wonder wads, and wanted all the different size patches but only got the .10's.
Ordered a White Light'n 5/16" liner and wish I had got the 3/8"..but I talked myself out of it..in case it didn't center exactly on the barrel..wouldn't fit if it didn't.
I got some pillow tickin from Walmart..bout .18", but would like to have the pre-cut lubed if I can find them..will check out Possible Shop and seems like I saw some..or T/C patches on the Midway site..
