I didn't get to finishing my 20 gauge this year in time for the hunt so I am using my browm bess. Its about an 11 guage and I was toying with trying to put the powder wads and shot etc. in a paper cartridge and then try to load with that. Usually I just load from the horn and from the shot pouch. Anyone had any experience with this?

I had posted some information on the smooth bore forum. I have been making muzzleloading shot cartridges which are loosely based on the Eley Universal Cartridge. I have used these M/L shot cartridges for the last two pheasant seasons. I am currently using the shot cartridges with my Pedersoli for turkey hunting this spring. I have not found away to include powder in the cartridge. I generally use a separate paper tube to hold the powder charge and the shot cartridge. Here is how I carry the powder and cartridge into the field:
