Patches $$$???

What is a good price for pillow tick per yd.?

$3.95 is what I paid for it at Wal-Mart for the 100% cotton pillow tick blue stripe.

 

About ten miles from where I live there is an old fabric store, the old woman that owned it died about five years ago. I just learn today that her two daughters have reopened it I went over their checking for pillow ticking, they had four different rolls of it and it was all .015th but every bit of it was flower pattern in green, red and blue but the one good thing it was only $ 2.99 a yard so I picked up what was left on the blue roll, it was around 8 yards. I don't think I'll be worrying about patches for a long time.

I've found over the last 30 years that Denim shoots as well as pillow ticking, and costs less than $2.00 normally.(CDN) The rugby pant material, still denim, is around .015 and the next thicker is .020"(brushed denim) and the thickest(dark blue denim) is around .030". With balls from .005" to .010" below bore size, whether the .015" or 020", respecively, works just fine & has for 30 years. Take your calipers to the store. They don't know what thousanths are. Make sure it's 100% cotton. Don't buy pink.WHAAAAAAAAAAGH

Sometimes the fabric stores have a close out section which usually consists of end of bolt fabrics, not enough to make much of anything. Anyway when the wife goes fabric shopping I check the close out section and every once and a while I find a piece of pillow ticking for a real cheap price. Once got almost a yard for .50 cents. The way I measure it is take some patching that work well for me mic it then check what I am looking to buy. It don't matter how you use the micrometer, tight fit or other just so you do it the same to both pieces of cloth.

I am in contact with a fella on a different site, thet may be innerested in all or part of, the remain'n 3 rolls!!

I can PM you his E-mail addy, if the ticking is still available, and if it's the same sort'a "floral ticking" he's look'n for!! He mentioned thet he could send you a "sample" of the ticking he's look'n for, so's you could do a comparison. May even be a couple'a $$'s in it for you, if it's the "right stuff"!!
