Would anyone know where a person could get a .45cal barrel for a Patriot ?

Cheers Teach.

greetings teach,

the 45 patriot came in two models, the bbls are not interchangeable.

if your stock has a brass nose cap, it is the new model. it has a 1-48 twist. that model is interchangeable with the 36 cal bbl.

if it has no nosecap it is the old model. it has a 1=28 twist. the bbl is not interchangable with the new model.

think the old model with the faster twist is more accurate with low velocity target loads.

good luck and ..ttfn..grampa..

Thanks,I'll watch them just for curiosity.

Thanks grampa, I've only ever seen one of the older Patriots, didn't know they were different twist.

Cheers Teach.

I have the old model. Here's a picture of it next to a Traditions Trapper. Sorry for the poor picture quality. I like the looks of the new model, but I've never shot one to compare for accuracy. I'd sure love to get a .36 Patriot, but they're as rare as hens teeth apparently.

the bbls on e-bay are the new mdls. they are for the stock with the brass nose cap.

..tt,g..

My late T/C Patriot pistol barrel measures 8 3/4 inches from the breechplug to the muzzle,(inside the bore), tight patched jag rotates 1/2 turn in length of barrel. considerably faster than 1/48.
left hand rifleing.

Until this thread, I didn't realize the barrels were different for the old and new models. Is there a way to tell the difference by looking? I see a lot of barrels go through eBay, but the sellers never mention which model they're for. I had bid a couple times on the new model stock, thinking it would fit my old model parts. I don't need it, but I like the looks of the new model better.

"but the sellers never mention which model they're for." After getting a dozen barrels off E butt I'm sure it's cause they dont have a clue. :rotf: Fred :hatsoff:

greetings,

yes there is a way to tell. the metal under rib on the old model is shorter. i'll dig out some of my patriots and measure them. will post the lengths.

..ttfn..grampa..

One of the barrels on ebay was up to $227 2 hrs before it closed.Missed the final bid.
Thanks for all of your input,I posted this for a friend who has everything except the barrel.
Looks like ebay is his best bet.

greetings,

finally got around to digging out some of the patriots. didn't measure the 36 but did measure the 45's..

old model 45 bbl. under rib is 4 7/8"

new model 45 bbl. under rib is 4 1/8"

the lug for the wedge is also a diff distance from the muzzle in the old and new.

good luck in finding a bbl. and ..ttfn..grampa..
