Hey all,

I purchased a frontier percussion....(wasnt paying attention and thought is was a flint lol). Any way , i am toying with the idea of putting a flintlock on it. Has anyone ever done or know anything about the L&R lock you can get for it ? Does it require any fitting, how does the pan and flash hole line up...etc etc etc

A conversion like that can be done. Lock vendors like L&R might have a replacement flintlock that will fit. The drum will need to be replaced with a touch hole liner. This does not require advanced skills but dome previous experience certainly would help.

i put a l&r in mine and it quite well a little fitting but very easy. i have been happy with it.

im figuring that all i should ahve to do is remove the drum and install the flash liner yes? if pedersoli were smart they would even ahve the same thread pitch.. coyote....have u had any draw backs from the conversion? and what lock did u use? i TOTW has an L&R..im thinking its a drop in fit ...i really dont want to use the pedersoli lock ..i ahve no experience with them but i really ahvnt heard many good things about them

I have done it. It is easy enough. Like you said: screw out the drum and replace with screw in flash tunnel - then put in flint lock... The only other thing I did was to widen the flashpan a bit and polish it with a dremel tool. I just love that gun... It is a bit of a fashion over there in the US to over praise US quality and to talk down foreign built quality ... I guess over here the contrary happens... Just try it - you will love it...

the lock was a L&R rpl 06 and the vent liner is 8x1.25 mm. i got them both from TOW

I don't think that comment was necessary to the conversation and is rather condescending.

Foreign quality is hardly talked down in here in the U.S., though we are out spoken about foriegn junk that has inundated our market...and why shouldn't we?

Our nation is the biggest consumer of foreign goods in the world and their markets would dry up without us.

Enjoy, J.D.
