I want to show my daughter how to make a fresh peach pie. I"m ashamed to say I dont know how! I'm a pretty fair cook but my mother always ran us out of the kitchen when she was baking. Does anybody have a good pie recipe. THANK YOU charlie

hey chuck, get a can of crisco ,they usually have a good crust recipie on them! then either get a can of peach pie filling or peel and slice up some peaches , fill up the pie and add 1/2 cup of sugar over the peaches[ only on the fresh peaches ,as the store bought pie fillings are sweet enough allready!] sprinkle a little pumpkin spice over it [lightly!] then add a dash of nutmeg cover with a top crust, you can slice the top crust into strips and lay a checker board over the top, or cover it completly, if you cover it, slice a few holes into the top crust so the steam can escape , when all this is done sprinkle a little sugar on top of the crust [very little!] to make a kind of brown glaze when it cooks, then put some cinnamon on the top, as much as you like, as some folks like a lot and some dont! bake it at 350 degrees till its golden brown, and is starting to smell so good you cant wait any longer! then put it on the counter to cool a little bit, grab some vanilla ice cream and give me a call! ill come by and we can start the eatin part!

yeah that's a good description have you ever had peach cobbler??
have some vanilla ice cream or even cold cream on hand to pour over.

oh yea! as a matter of fact, my dutch oven has probably seen as much peach cobbler in it as backstrap! nothin better than a dutch oven cobbler!

I did make individual fried pies frosted with confectioner sugar once camped out - not again it's too much trouble to make up the dough. I was with scout troop when I did that to 'show off' - one of the lads said 'that mean ol' man is better cook than my mom' :haha:
a buddy is an asst scout master, I was just along for old times sake.

sorry - sort of 'off topic' but I couldn't resist.

Peach Cobbler
1 cup of flour (or Bisquick)
1 cup milk
1 stick butter
1 large can of sliced peaches with juice

Melt butter in Dutch oven. Mix flour and milk. Dump can of peaches and juice in pan ”“ pour milk mixture over and bake at 375 for about 20 to 30 minutes.

OR this one is easy and delicious

1 box butter yellow cake mix
2 16 oz cans sliced peaches in syrup
1 stick butter
Pour peaches and syrup in Dutch oven. Cover completely with dry cake mix. Do not mix together. Cut butter in little pats and sprinkle over top.

Bake at 350 for 25 minutes.

I used to make a great peach-a-berry cobbler in my lip-lidded Dutch oven. Simple: dump in freshly cut up fresh peaches, blueberries, stir in some sugar, cover the whole works with Bisquik. Put lid on, lower into a hole with hot coals, shovel some hot coals onto the lid and let alone until instinct tells you it should be done. Carefully lift lid off and dig in.

although not muzzler/camp related I'll have to add that I just bought some nice fat white freestone Georgia peaches at a market I shop at. 49c./lb. have enough for a peach/berry cobbler and some to make up into jam. real good on buttermilk or sourdough flapjacks, bacon and strong coffee on a cold winter morn when the snow flys horizontal to the ground and the wood stove is pumping out the BTU's.

I made a nice peach pie the other day. I used 8-9 large fresh peaches, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup white sugar, 1/4 cup flour, and cinnamon to taste. Combine all that and immediately put it into a prepared pie crust - mound it up high! Then top it with another pie crust - cut vent holes and bake.
